Walliams wins apology over faked photo

Newspaper sorry over Page 3 girl story

Freesheet London Lite has apologised after publishing a faked photography of David Walliams with a page 3 model.

In a story headlined Walliams Swaps His Page 3 Playmate, the newspaper suggested that the Little Britain star was in a relationship with Peta Todd.

And it mocked up a photo showing the pair together – without telling readers that the image had been faked.

In Monday’s edition, the paper said: ‘We have been asked to clarify that the picture… was made up of separate photographs of David Walliams and Peta Todd.

‘We are also sorry for giving the wrong impression that they were in a relationship, and for suggesting that David Walliams “kicked” [fellow Page 3 girl] Keeley Hazell out of a cab when in fact he provided her with a lift to her final destination.’

A complained was lodged with the Press Complaints Commission following publication of the photograph in October, which resolved the matter.
