Black comedy awards shortlist out

Nominations have been announced for this year’s Black Entertainment Comedy Awards, including recognition for Chris Rock, Reginald D Hunter and Gina Yashere, among others.

Although he has lived in the UK for the best part of a decade, Hunter has been shortlisted in the best international category, against Rock. Others vying for that award are Americans Will E Robo and Rodney Perry plus Jamaican Oliver Samuels.

Eddie Kadi, Kojo, Babatunde, Quincy and Tunde Ednut are in the running for best male act, while Annette Fagon, Ava Vidal, Gina Yashere, Glenda Jaxson and Felicity Ethnic have been nominated for best female.

Finally, best newcomer will be decided between Marlon Davis, Andi Osho, Joe K, Jason Patterson and Prince Abdi.

The awards, now in their eighth year, will be announced in London on November 16.
