Overcome with nerves

Tearful Rhona cuts show short

Rhona Cameron abandoned the first night performance of her Edinburgh Fringe after breaking down in tears on stage.

The comic cut her show short last night after suffering a crisis of confidence in front of 300 fans at the Gilded Balloon.

She had said she had been feeling unwell, and after a few gags fell flat she lost her way, and had to refer to her notes.

Fans encouraged her to go on, but after 20 minutes, she left the stage. She returned, but she still cut her set short by 10 minutes, the Daily Record reports.

Cameron told the audience: ‘I don't know why I am low in confidence this evening. I've not broken up with anyone. I've not had a fight. I don't drink or take drugs any more. There are bigger things in life than this, I guess.’

She began crying as she told her audience: ‘You are all so lovely. My manager is going to kill me but if you want a refund, by all means you can get it. I will come back tomorrow and it will be as if nothing ever happened.’

The Gilded Balloon said: ‘Everyone has a bad day at work.’

Cameron returned to the Fringe last year, following a four-year absence.
