Neds in space

New sci-fi comedy from Still Game duo

Still Game stars Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill have written a comedy about a group of dropout Glaswegian ‘neds’ who blast off into space.

The show, with the working title The Sci-Fi Project, considers the aftermath of a meteor crash in Scotland.

Hemphill told the Glasgow Daily Record: ‘This is the first sci-fi series set in Scotland.’

Last year, he auditioned for the role of Scottie in the new series of Star Trek, which went to Simon Pegg instead. He joked: ‘If I can’t get a part in someone else's sci-fi series, I'll write one myself.’

The duo hope the show will air in August or September next year.
