This is the first look at how Australia sitcom Kath & Kim will look when it is remade in the States.

The NBC network has started airing trailers to promote the new show, which will air from October 9.

Saturday Night Live actress Molly Shannon takes the role of mum Kath, while Selma Blair plays her self-centred daughter Kim, who moves back home after her marriage crumbles.

In the remake, Kath has lost the neat blonde perm in favour of a more fashionable cut, but Kim continues to wear clothes several sizes too small.

The NBC promo shows Blair wearing an undersized pink crop top that shows her muffin top as she arrives in her mother's suburban Florida home. ‘Mum,’ she yells. ‘I'm getting a divorce. It's over.’

The tagline is ‘Kath and Kim — apparently you CAN go home again’.

Last week, it was announced that the first series had been upped from six episodes to 13, even before the first episode goes out.
