Tonks is ex-Xfm

Danny Wallace lands radio show

Stand-up Paul Tonkinson is leaving London radio station Xfm – to be replaced by Danny Wallace.

The comic currently hosts a four-hour show on the station every Saturday, but it has today been announced that this will be his final week.

From February 9, Wallace – whose book Yes Man is currently being adapted into a Jim Carrey movie – takes over. His show will also be heard in Manchester, where the 10am-2pm Saturday slot is currently filled by comic Jason Manford, the station’s weekday breakfast host.

Tonkinson was the first breakfast presenter on Xfm Manchester when it launched two years ago before moving London last year.

Xfm London programme director, Adam Uytman said:‘Xfm has a great comedy heritage so we are really pleased to be adding Danny to our weekend schedule. It will be compelling, intelligent and show a genuinely fresh approach.’

Wallace added: ‘I'm thrilled and excited to be joining Xfm - an ambition I've had since I first started listening 10 years back.’
