Spikey works on vineyard comedy

Dave Spikey is working on a new comedy-drama about a French vineyard.

The Phoenix Nights star says the show is currently in development with the BBC.

‘It’s about a group of lads who buy a French vineyard off the internet by mistake,’ he said. ‘It’s about their journey and their dead-end lives and the way that they feel about their future.

‘I’ve had a script commissioned by the BBC, so we’ll see where that takes us,’ he told the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette.

Spikey, who goes on tour this spring, is also working on another BBC comedy-drama, Footballers Lives, about a Sunday league team.

‘It’d be great if we could find the funding to turn it into a film,’ he said.
