Cleese 'in marriage split'
Comic is melancholy, say reports
John Cleese has reportedly split from his third wife after 16 years.The 68-year-old is said to have told friends he had separated amicably from Alyce Faye Eichelberger Cleese.
An unnamed friend of the couple told the Daily Telegraph: ‘They just have felt that the relationship is not going to continue and I think they are very sad but fairly resolved about it.’
The newspaper said no one else was involved in the decision, but that it came after Cleese became ‘melancholy’ following the deaths of several close friends.
Cleese married child psychotherapist Alyce Faye in 1992. They live together in Santa Barbara, California, and last year put a 16-acre cattle ranch there on the market – although they live in another property in the area. The couple both have children from previous marriages, but none together.
Cleese was previously married to Fawlty Towers co-star Connie Booth for ten years and actress Barbara Trentham for nine.
