Stand-up Brandi Borr dies

Comic loses decade-long fight with cancer

American stand-up Brandi Borr, who worked for several years on the UK circuit, has died at the age of 39, following a long battle with breast cancer.

She died in Chicago on Friday afternoon, with her husband John Domagalski by her side.

Borr was first diagnosed with breast cancer almost a decade ago, and even joked about it in her comedy routine.

She spent several years free of the disease, but it returned about two years ago. At the time of her death, she was having chemotherapy everyday and taking a cocktail of drugs.

Her friend Neil Masters said: ' Brandi never dwelled on her illness: throughout all of her treatment and illness Brandi did so without ever feeling sorry for herself - she remained positive and always was smiling despite often being in pain and/or physically ill. Brandi never gave up, her amazing personality and her lust for life made her fight to her very last breath.

'Brandi's thoughts were never far away from her time in the UK and the special friends that she made especially the ones made on the UK comedy circuit.’

Borr worked in the UK from the early 2000s, making the finals of the Funny Women talent competition in 2003 before returning to her native Chicago.
