Gervais in line for another US accolade

Screen Actors Guild nominations out

Ricky Gervais has been nominated for another US acting award, for his role as Andy Millman in Extras.

He has made the shortlist for best actor in a comedy series in the Screen Actors’ Guild award, announced today.

The news comes less than a week after he landed a nomination in he same category in the Golden Globes.

In the SAG awards, he’s up againts Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock, Steve Carell for The Office, Jeremy Piven for Entourage and Tony Shalhoub for Monk.

The nominees for best actress in a comedy series are: Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) and Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty).

And for best comedy ensemble: 30 Rock, Desperate Housewives, Entourage, The Office and Ugly Betty.

Hugh Laurie has also been nominated in the drama category, for his starring role in House.

The winners will be announced in Los Angeles on January 27.
