Len to star in record-store sitcom

Lenny Henry is to star in a new Radio 4 comedy, set in an old reggae record shop.

Rudy’s Rare Records has been written by Danny Robins and Dan Tetsell, whose previous credits include The Museum Of Everything.

The series is set in the multicultural Handsworth area of Birmingham, where Rudy has a store importing music from Jamaica, with the motto: 'If we don't have it - them don't mek it.’

Henry stars as Adam, Rudy’s son, who is forced to abandon his comfortable metropolitan life in London when his father has a heart attack. He winds up living in the dingy flat above the store with Rudy, played by Larrington Walker, and his son Richie (Joe Jacobs).

Former EastEnders star Tracy-Ann Oberman also appears in the show, which will be recorded next month.
