And the show, which features Clark as a neurotic, single, dysfunctional thirtysomething, will also be developed for the US market.
The corporation has ordered six half-hour programmes from independent production company Brown Eyed Boy following a pilot that aired in Septmeber.
Meanwhile American network ABC has ordered its own pilot based on the same format for next year, if the US writers’ strike is resolved by then.
Brown Eyed Boy managing director, Gary Reich told trade newspaper Broadcast: ‘There is a kind of Anglo-hysteria in Hollywood at the moment. US comedy writers are suffering a lot of doubt over their direction and are looking to the UK as a guide.
‘How Not to Live Your Life is quite traditional but has a unique twist and instantly appealed to the studios and networks.’
