Considine films music comedy

Bourne Ultimatum star Paddy Considine has started filming a new comedy about a bricklayer, part-time roadie and wannabe rapper.

The actor recently spent five days shooting guerrilla footage in character as Le Donk with director Shane Meadows, his long-term collaborator.

They even went to an Arctic Monkeys gig at Old Trafford in Manchester, where Le Donk rapped to the crowd.

However, Meadows – whose credits include This Is England and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands – said: ‘We know not whether it will be a short, a feature or the first episode of a series

‘But if Paddy's first rehearsals are anything to go by, it should be piss funny.’

Writing on his website, Meadows said he had been invited to film a straightforward concert documentary for the Artic Monkeys. He declined, but the offer gave him an idea for resurrecting the Le Donk character that previously appeared in Shane's World; a collection of short films and skits Meadows and Considine made together.

Before the gig Meadows wrote: ‘We have no script, no funding and a tiny crew, but we are all buzzing about it.’

Considine is no stranger to comedy, having appeared in Hot Fuzz and starred in Chris Morris’s acclaimed 2002 short My Wrongs 8245-8249 and 117.

Here’s a video of Le Donk performing a ‘breakdance masterclass’ from Shane’s World.

And here’s some poor-quality mobile phone footage of him rapping at the Arctic Monkeys gig:
