Fools take gold

Britain's favourite TV comedies named

Only Fools And Horses has yet again been named Britain’s favourite all-time TV comedy.

The long-running Peckham-based sitcom topped a poll for the Media Guardian International TV festival, which opened today.

A total of 27 per cent of the 2,012 people surveyed by YouGov voted for Del Boy.

In second place was Fawlty Towers, with 13 per cent, and third was Blackadder, with 10 per cent.

The pollsters also asked viewers what their favourite current TV comedy was – and the top two places went to revivals of old shows.

The Vicar Of Dibley, which was eligible for its Christmas specials even though the last regular episode aired in 2000, topped the poll with 28 per cent of the vote.

And The Royle Family – also revived after a seven-year absence - came second with 13 per cent.

Third was The Catherine Tate Show, with 9 per cent, meaning a female-dominated top three.
