Brand lands ITV2 sketch show

Katy Brand has recorded a sketch series for ITV2, due to air in October.

The show, Katy Brand's Big Ass Show, features a mix of celebrity spoofs and more everyday characters.

And one track she recorded parodying Lily Allen, entitled Banal, has already been played on Radio One’s Scott Mills show, prompting listeners to call in to ask where they could buy it.

Other sketches involve Kate Winslet showing off her 'normal life', Kate Moss as a school bully, and Jesus's long-suffering girlfriend Ruth.

Brand first performed exaggerated versions of famous names in her 2005 Edinburgh show, Celebrities Are Gods.

On her MySpace page, Brand wrote: ‘I can't tell yet how it's going to turn out, but even when I'm feeling pleased with myself, I've always got the Producer to call me up, just to say, “We could still fuck this up, Brand...”’

ITV2 is making a determined effort to air more original comedy, and earlier this month announced its first sitcom commission, No Heroics, based around a group of off-duty superheroes.
