Russell to land C4 series

Russell Brand is poised to land his own Channel 4 stand-up show

.

Trade magazine Broadcast reports that he is set to make six half-hour shows for the channel, using archive TV footage to illustrate his monologues.

The programme has not yet been given a title, nor has it been formally commissioned.

But it will trade on the reputation for outrageous commentary he has built up hosting E4 spin-off Big Brother’s Big Mouth. However previous attempts at a chat show have proved ratings disappointments.

A source told Broadcast: ‘It's quite experimental. The idea is for it to be Russell's take on a variety of subjects like love or politics delivered in a monologue cut with clips.’

Brand's own independent production company, Vanity Productions, is expected to make the programme.
