Shuttleworth plans film sequel

Comedy character John Shuttleworth is planning a follow-up to his 2004 film It’s Nice Up North.

In the original, Shuttleworth travelled to the northernmost points in Britain to test the theory that the further north you go, the nicer people are – only to discover that the nicest person he met was actually from Devon.

Now Shuttleworth’s creator Graham Fellows is planning a sequel called Southern Softies.

Answering questions posed by Chortle readers in character, he said: the new film would ‘take me to warmer climes than I experienced on my last trip, to see if people get softer (or wetter) the further south one ventures’.

However acclaimed photographer Martin Parr who shot the first film – causing Shuttleworth plenty of mock annoyance over his arty technique – will not be involved.

‘I’m looking for a more professional cameraman this time – someone like Stuart Piper, who, of course, does wedding videos,’ Shuttleworth said.
