Don't trip over his words...

Spikey immortalised in stone

Dave Spikey’s words are to be immortalised in stone in his home town of Bolton.

A quote encouraging people to nurture their talent is to be set in a pavement as part of ‘walk of fame’ being installed in he city.

Peter Kay was among those considered for the honour, but his one-time collaborator was chosen instead.

Spikey unveiled his plaque this morning, and it will move to its final location in Deansgate at a later date.

His submission reads: ‘You all have a talent. You just need to discover it then have the courage and self belief to bring it through.

‘It may mean taking risks but remember if you don't risk anything you risk even more.’

Others being honoured with the plaques include TV steeplejack Fred Dibnah, and Kenneth Wolstenholme’s ‘They think it's all over... it is now’ commentary from the 1966 World Cup.
