Trevor to front satirical comedy

Sir Trevor McDonald is to front as new satirical comedy show for ITV1.

The veteran newsreader – who last year successfully guest hosted an episode of Have I Got News For You last year - will be joined by two guest comedians to discuss the week’s news.

Marcus Brigstocke was one of the guests on a pilot version of the show earlier this month, and now ITV have confirmed that it will be part of its spring/summer schedules.

Also in the new line-up is reality show Tough Gig, in which comedians will be sent to spend a week with a ‘weird and interesting group of people’, such as fashionistas, fantasy gamers or meditation practitioners.

They then have to put together a stand-up routine based on their experiences – then perform it to the people they spent the week with.Six half-hour shows have been commissioned.

The new schedule also includes another run for Harry Hill's TV Burp, and Ben Elton’s new show Get a Grip, which pairs him with Popworld presenter Alexa Chung for an observational comedy show across the generation gap.
