Dennis on tour (de France)
The 45-year-old comic will cycle through the Pyrenees on the amateur stage of the race, L’Etape du Tour.
He said the 200km ride, which organisers describe as ‘intense’ was ‘taking the place of my midlife crisis. I’m getting it all over with in one day — done and dealt with’.
Dennis is cycling around 180km a week in preparation for the July 16 race, which takes in five peaks of the High Pyrenees.
And he said: ‘I’m doing OK… I’ve also been exercising more, trying to get ready.’
But he added that he was apprehensive of the challenge, telling The Times: ‘What scares me isn’t going up the hill, it’s coming down.
‘I could end up being responsible for knocking a pack of 8,000 Frenchmen off the side of the Pyrenees into a precipice. I don’t want that on my conscience.’
