Jersey finally gets Dibley special

The Christmas episodes of The Vicar of Dibley are to be screened at a Jersey cinema – after a power cut robbed the island of the sitcom on Christmas Day.

BBC Radio Jersey was inundated with calls over the festive season when a blackout meant islanders couldn’t see the first episode of the two-part wedding special on BBC One.

Now the corporation, and Jersey Electricity, are putting the sitcom onto the big screen for Comic Relief on Monday March 12.

Mike Liston, chief executive of Jersey Electricity, says: ‘For many people in Jersey the worst thing about Christmas Day's power cut was missing the Vicar of Dibley. With help from Cineworld and the BBC we're putting that right.

‘As well as helping Comic Relief the screening should remind us of the two billion people in the world today who have no access to electricity or the heat, light, clean water, refrigeration and sanitation it enables.’

Up to four free tickets per person are available from Cineworld at the Waterfront in advance, with a collection for Comic Relief on the night.
