What a legend...

Sheffield honours Palin

Michael Palin has been inducted as a ‘legend’ in his home town of Sheffield.

The Yorkshire city has honoured the Python star with his own brass plaque mounted in the pavement outside the town hall.

Others who have been similarly honoured include and Def Leppard and astronaut Helen Sharman.

At the unveiling on Monday, Palin said: ‘I didn't know they gave these awards, but I am very chuffed about it,’

Jan Wilson, leader of Sheffield City Council, said: ‘Michael has been a great ambassador for the city all over the world. He represents everything that is good about Sheffield – down to earth, a sense of humour and a warm, friendly character.’

His plaque cites his achievements as ‘comedian, actor, traveller’.
