Iannucci to give religious talk

Armando Iannucci is to give a religious talk on Radio 4, based on his personal experiences.

He’s one of six well-known figures, including Cherie Blair and Lord Douglas Hurd, who will be giving the Lent Talks in the run-up to Easter.

The programmes, which start on February 28, invite the speakers to ‘reflect on the story of Jesus' ministry and Passion from the perspective of their own personal and professional experience’.

Iannucci will talk about the devil and temptation, while Mrs Blair will talk about redemption in the story of tax collector Zacchaeus.

Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer said: ‘I am delighted that we have such a surprising group of speakers who will stimulate the Radio 4 audience and, on occasion, challenge it.’

Others giving talks include human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabarti, advertising guru Chas Bayfield and Jeffrey John, Dean of St Albans.
