More Earl and Office

NBC renews comedy hits

America’s NBC network has announced new series of The Office and My Name Is Earl.

The third and fourth seasons of each sitcom have been ordered early in the face of rising ratings.

The Office, which initially had a shaky start, saw its viewing figures grow by more than 20 per cent in the key 18-49 age group over the course of series two.

Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment, said: ‘These series represent some of the best of what we consider to be the NBC brand of quality shows.

‘It is a pleasure to give them an early renewal to develop more stories for next year since we know they will remain both critical and commercial successes for a long time to come.’

He also renewed Heroes and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for the 2007-08 season.
