Cosby strikes a deal
The terms of the deal will remain confidential, a brief statement from the woman’s lawyers confirmed.
Canadian Andrea Constand, 33, alleged that the 69-year-old comic gave her pills at his home near Philadelphia in January 2004, then assaulted her.
His lawyers say they were only the cold relief tablets Benadryl, which he gave her after she complained of stress and sleeping problems.
The statement that confirmed the two parties ‘have resolved their differences, and, therefore, the litigation has been dismissed’.
Cosby's publicist confirmed a settlement had been reached, but said there would be no further comment.
The woman, who is from Ontario, , previously worked at Cosby’s alma mater, Temple University in Philadelphia.
The woman had gone to police about the encounter, but prosecutors declined to file criminal charges, so she brought her civil case instead.
She sought compensation for mental anguish, post-traumatic stress disorder and the ‘loss of enjoyment of life's pleasures’.
