Jones has cancer op

Python star 'in good spirits'

Terry Jones is said to be ‘in good spirits’ following an operation to combat his suspected colon cancer.

His agent Jodi Shields said the operation on the 64-year-old ex-Python ‘went very well’.

He was admitted to a private hospital in London on Friday following early diagnosis of the cancer. Just days earlier he appeared on stage with Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin for the London opening of the Python musical Spamalot.

Ms Shields said: ‘Terry's doctors are very cheered with an early diagnosis of possible colon cancer for which he has now had routine surgery.

‘He is in high spirits and very pleased that the doctors say they have caught it early.’

Jones was diagnosed just over a week ago. His public engagements have been cleared for the next few weeks ‘to allow him some recovery and resting time’.
