Reginald D Hunter, Mark Watson and the team behind The Receptionists have been nominated for the leading writing award at the Edinburgh Fringe.
They have all been shortlisted for The Writers’ Guild Of Great Britain comedy award, run with The List magazine.
The Receptionist writers are Verity Woolnough, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and Katie Lyons, collectively known as Trippplicate, whose show 13 O’Clock was a sleeper hit of last year's festival.
Simon Brodkin has been nominated for best comedy newcomer for his show Everyone But Himself, alongside Jonny Sweet and Joe Thomas for The Future
The best show will win £500, the newcomer £250, plus meetings with BBC comedy producers.
Dave Cohen from the Writers’ Guild said: ‘We writers are going to have to get used to stepping in to the limelight with all those mouthy comics and shouty actors.’
The winners will be announced on Tuesday.
Last year's comedy winners were Dan Tetsell for his show Sins of the Grandfathers and newcomer Jason Manford for Urban Legend.
