It's Don French
Dawn French is working on a new comedy, set in an Oxbridge college.
The comic will play the master of the old-fashioned establishment in the programme, tentatively titled High Table.
The news comes as it was revealed that The Vicar Of Dibley, which likewise saw Dawn French in a traditionally male job in a staid institution, is to end after 12 years.
Independent production company Tiger Aspect is developing the new show, which is described as a comedy-drama, although it has not yet been commissioned.
Clive Coleman, who wrote legal sitcom Chambers, and former BBC comedy chief Geoffrey Perkins are writing the script.
Meanwhile, trade magazine Broadcast has reported that The Vicar Of Dibley will make its swansong with a two-part Christmas special.
Writer Richard Curtis is currently working on the final episodes, which are rumoured to see vicar Geraldine Granger marrying a new character.
Tiger Aspect chairman Peter Bennett-Jones would say only that the ‘conclusive’ Christmas special would end with a ‘big moment’.
He told Broadcast: ’Richard feels he hasn't quite rounded it off – but it is time to round it off.’
