Girls! on film

Work starts on new BBC3 sitcom

Filming is about to start on new BBC Three sitcom Live! Girls!

The six-part sitcom has been written by twins Beth and Emma Kilcoyne, and stars Emma with Sam Battersea, and follows on from a sketch show they performed in Edinburgh.

Producers Celador will start the four-week shoot in Sunderland, where the show is set, from June.

It also stars stand-up Dave Johns as Norman, the son of a 73-year-old fortune-telling dwarf. He landed the role following his appearances in Edinburgh fringe plays 12 Angry Men, The Odd Couple and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.

Fellow stand-up Inder Mancoha plays a biology teacher called Gordon.

The shows, which are a co-production with the BBC and have been described as ‘quirky character comedy, part sketch, part narrative’, are set to air this autumn.
