Call of the wild
Bill Bailey is to host a major new wildlife series for Channel 4.
The comic will be the face of Wild Thing: I Love You – a ten-part series about endangered species in the UK.
In each hour-long episode Bailey and a team of experts will investigate the plight of animals being threatened by a particular local problem, and try to come up with a solution.
Examples include a family of otters in Newcastle who need a bridge to allow them to cross a busy road and an endangered group of porpoises in Cornwall who are under threat from fishermen's nets.
Work is already under way on the series, which will air in a Sunday teatime slot later this year.
Executive producer Bill Hobbins said: ‘All over the UK, mankind is causing wildlife all sorts of problems, often inadvertently. We hope that Bill Bailey and his team will be able to solve some of these problems and in turn, help in conserving Britain's wildlife for now and for generations to come.’
The series is being made by RDF Media – the independent production house best known for Wife Swap.
