Strip tease
The Comic Strip team are considering making a comeback with another series of films.
Nigel Planer, Rik Mayall and director Peter Richardson have already reunited for a one-off Channel 4 project, called Sex Actually.
But the show, to air on December 28, could herald a whole new series of Comic Strip Presents...
In an interview with the Independent today, Planer said: ‘There are still many places we can take the Comic Strip.
‘We'd like to do a series of films embracing younger talent. We can't just make films about old geezers like me. We've got to get in younger, sexier people. Yes, Keith Allen is still sexy, but in an Oliver Reed kind of way!"
Richardson agreed, saying: ‘And as long as enough of us keep coming up with good ideas, we could go on for a long time yet.’
The original team, which also included Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson, made 37 films, which were recently released on a DVD box set (buy).
However, for Sex Actually, they have recruited newer talent, including Two Pints Of Lager’s Sheridan Smith, and other established comedy actors such as Robert Bathurst, Doon Mackichan, Rebecca Front and Phil Cornwell.
