Hot Fuzz is go

Pegg's movie gets green light

Simon Pegg has got the green light to make a follow-up to Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz.

The British cop film will reunite the Spaced star with director and co-writer Edgar Wright and actor Nick Frost, and should start shooting in the spring.

Pegg told Empire Online: ‘We got the green light yesterday. It sounds as if it’s going to be March, which is exciting.

‘We’ve been working so hard on it. It’s such a complex script. Shaun kinda wrote itself, but this took some real brainpower. It’s been brilliant fun and a real exercise in comedy and logic.

‘Sometimes we’d sit there frowning at each other, thinking “we’re writing a comedy!” We’d be scratching our heads and crying, but I think that what we’ve come up with now is a better script than Shaun Of The Dead, so fingers crossed.’

Pegg added the film, to be made by Working Title and set in a West Country backwater, was influenced by the work of Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang writer Shane Black.

‘His movies have that kind of sass,’ Pegg said. ‘It’s a tribute to those movies, in a way, like a British Shane Black movie.’
