Jon Stewart to perform in London

Jon Stewart, star of spoof American news programme The Daily Show, is to appear live in London.

He will be on the West End stage for one night, along with other members of the Daily Show team, in an event also designed to promote his book America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction in Britain.

The programme is one of Comedy Central’s biggest hits in the States, and is now being screened at 8.30pm daily on digital channel More4 in the UK.

He will perform two shows at the Prince Edward Theatre on December 11, at 4pm and 7pm.

Sharing the stage with Stewart will be the co-authors of his book, Ben Karlin, an executive producer on The Daily Show, and David Javerbaum, the show’s head writer.

Despite its reports being fake, the show won the Television Critics Association’s award for outstanding news series this year. And the book was America’s best-selling non-fiction title of 2004, despite being boycotted by the giant Walmart chain because it contained naked portraits of the US Supreme Court.

Tickets for the shows are priced £15 to £25 from 0870 850 9176. Click here to buy the book.
