Festival movie scoops two Baftas

Festival, the comedy about stand-ups’ egos at the Edinburgh Fringe, has won two Scottish Bafta awards.

The film had been nominated in six categories, including best film and best screenplay.

But in the end it took away two awards: best director for its American-born, Edinburgh based creator Annie Griffin, pictured, and best actor award for Chris O'Dowd.

Another comedy movie, On A Clear Day, was named the best film. Starring Peter Mullan, and Brenda Blethyn, it told the story of a cross-channel swimmer.

Still Game, the old folk’s comedy starring Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, scooped the prize for best entertainment programme.

The awards were handed out in Glasgow last night.

Festival is released on DVD on November 28. Click here to pre-order from Amazon and save £5. Click here for more about the film.
