Chris's 'secret role' in new C4 sitcom

Chris Morris is to be a regular in a new Channel 4 sitcom – although he’s apparently trying to keep his role secret.

The Brass Eye creator is taking a recurring part in The IT Crowd, set in an office computer department, when it airs in February.

The show, written by Father Ted creator Graham Linehan and produced by The Office’s Ash Atalla, was unveiled as part of the broadcaster’s winter season this week.

The three core actors were named as Chris O’Dowd, from the film Festival,  Richard Ayoade, from Garth Marenghi and the relatively unknown Katherine Parkinson.

But Morris will be making regular cameo appeanrces as the boss of the company, Channel 4 have confirmed.

One insider at production company Talkback Thames has said: ‘Chris has agreed to appear in the series and we're thrilled to have him.

‘But for some reason he's insisting on absolute secrecy. He doesn't seem to want anyone to know that he's going to be in the programme.’

Talkback Thames also made Chris Morris’s last series, Nathan Barley, which he co-wrote with Charlie Brooker.
