'Curb' regular Louis dies at 92

Veteran American comedian Louis Nye, who started his career on the groundbreaking Steve Allen show and ended it as a regular on Curb Your Enthusiasm has died at the age of 92.

He died in his Los Angeles after a long battle with lung cancer.

He will be best remembered in the States for his catchphrase ‘Hi, ho, Steverino!’, which he coined on the Fifties series to greet Steve Allen.

Before that he was a club comic who also appeared regularly on radio and on the earliest days of TV.

He was working regularly until around two years ago, and played the father of Larry David’s agent Jeff in five episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm between 2000 and 2002.

His credits also include a short-lived fashion industry sitcom Needles and Pins, the movie Cannonball Run II and guest appearance on the likes of St. Elsewhere, The Love Boat and Laverne & Shirley.
