Club finds its fifth home in 10 years

Liverpool’s biggest comedy club is moving again – into the city’s Royal Court Theatre,

This will be the fifth home for the Rawhide Comedy Club, which started in the foyer of the Everyman Theatre in 1995 and currently runs its shows in the 350-seater Central Hall.

But now it has even outgrown that, and from July 1, when the Liverpool Comedy Festival is on, the club will occupy the Royal Court every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Rawhide owner Kevin Fearon said: “Rawhide began in a theatre and for it to come full circle and end up in The Royal Court is proof of how far we have come in the last ten years.

“We began in front of 100 people a fortnight in the Foyer Bar at the Everyman and now we will be putting shows on for 1,000 people a weekend in a very special building in the heart of Liverpool. I would like to see every comedy event in Liverpool coming through this venue.”

Johnny Vegas, who was a regular compere for Rawhide when he was on the comedy circuit, said: " I've always loved playing the Royal Court and Rawhide was one of the clubs I started off at so it is good to see them getting bigger and even better.”
