Marenghi's big-screen deal

Horror spoof Garth Marenghi could be heading for the big screen.

Creators Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade have been commissioned by FilmFour to write a full-length script based on his cult comedy.

"We're in the middle of writing it at the moment," Holness told The Guardian. "But it's going to be different to the TV series."

The over-serious character won the Perrier award at the 2001 Edinburgh festival, and was picked up by Channel 4 for a sitcom – which attracted a relatively modest, but dedicated, audience.

Meanwhile, Holness is also developing a sketch show for Channel 4, and has pitched an sitcom about a second-rate illusionist to Five.
