Heart scare for Amos

...but he's given the OK to perform

Stephen K Amos has returned to his Melbourne Comedy Festival show following a heart scare.

The stand-up missed his Best Of The Edinburgh Fest performance on Wednesday night, after being rushed to hospital with a stabbing pain in his chest. He was kept overnight for observation.

Tests showed he had a viral infection of the sac surrounding the heart, which is easily treated with ant-bacterial drugs.

Amos was back on stage last night. But when he offered his doctor tickets as a thank-you, she said she had already made plans… to see that very show.

Amos is the second British comic to suffer health problems in Melbourne. Phil Nichol was forced to cancel more than a week of his Freedumb shows with Janice Phayre after putting his back out. He, too, has returned to the show.
