Jimmy lands C4 panel show

Jimmy Carr is to continue is domination of Channel 4’s entertainment schedules with a new Friday-night panel show.

8 Out Of 10 Cats, unveiled today as part of the channel’s spring schedule, will be based on opinion polls.

A spokesman said: “It is designed to root out the nation’s views on the unusual, the ridiculous and the irrelevant issues of the day.”

Other shows in the Friday-night schedule include the Johnny Vegas vehicle 18 Stone Of Idiot, produced by Chris Evans’s production house UMTV.

Six episodes of the studio-based show, featuring celebrity guests and stupid stunts, have been ordered.

The bear from Leigh Francis’s Bo Selecta is also getting its own sitcom, with a six-part series on the way following the recent Christmas special.

Completing the new shows in the Friday-night slot is Meet The Magoons, a sitcom based around a Punjabi curry house in Glasgow, a show which started life as a pilot on Channel 4’s Comedy Lab strand.
