Another Peep

Channel 4 reorders sitcom

Channel 4 has commissioned a third series of the award-winning Peep Show.

The comedy has been critically acclaimed, scooping last year’s Golden Rose of Lucerne accolade – yet has generally underperformed in the ratings.

The sitcom, whose twist is that the character’s stupid inner thoughts can be heard, attracted audiences of around 1.8 million last series, or a ten per cent share.

It stars David Mitchell and Robert Webb – a double-act in their own right with a Radio 4 series to their name – as two socially dysfunctional twentysomethings.

Like the previous series, the next season will be scripted by former Smack The Pony writers Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain.

The series has been re-commissioned from independent production house Objective Productions by Channel Four’s head of comedy Caroline Leddy.

America’s Fox network has recently ordered a pilot episode of its own version of Peep Show, to be remake for US audiences.
