Little Britain upsets no one

Matt Lucas and David Walliams are annoyed that no one is complaining about Little Britain.

Reviewers criticised the second series of the comedy for gratuitous bad taste – but not a single viewer has complained to TV watchdog Ofcom.

Even its recent move to mainstream BBC1 went without attracting attention, although channel chiefs did order some edits to remove the worst excesses.

Walliams told the Sun: "We have been dying to get complaints, but unfortunately we don't.

"I think it's quite hard to shock people now. Brits love their comedy edgy. We love really rude humour in this country."

Characters include racist and homophobic members of the Women's Institute who throw up on people, a breast-suckling adult and a phoney wheelchair user – but it all seems perfectly acceptable to TV viewers.

Lucas added: "Kids love rudeness, old people love rudeness, people our age love rudeness - so where are all the people who don't like it? I'm not sure they exist any more.”
