Adopt a cause
Some of the circuit’s top comics have been lined up for a West End benefit gig for an adoption charity this coming weekend.
Rhona Cameron, Stewart Lee, Robert Newman and Mark Steel – who were all adopted themselves – are among those taking part in the Child Benefit at the Prince Of Wales Theatre.
The line-up also includes Ed Byrne, Omid Djalili, Kiki and Herb, and Catherine Tate.
One Foot In The Grave star Richard Wilson and Never Mind The Buzzcocks regular Phill Jupitus will also be making appearances.
Sunday’s show will raise money for the British Association for Adoption and Fostering, and the Soho Theatre Writers’ Centre, which develops new comedy writing.
For tickets, priced £25 or £75 (which includes admission to the after-show party), call 0870 429 6883.
The following Sunday, the 28th, the Old Vic theatre is staging another benefit, in aid of domestic violence charity Tender.
Among the acts performing at No Slap, Just Tickle are Kevin Day, Earl Okin, Topping and Butch, Terry Alderton and former Ocean Colour Scene frontman Simon Fowler.
For tickets, priced from £10 to £25, call 0870 060 6628.
There’s also a bowel cancer benefit at London’s Comedy Store on November 22, featuring Jo Caulfield, Junior Simpson and others.Published: 15 Nov 2004
