Comedy on demand
TV-on-demand service HomeChoice is to make its own stand-up programme.
I Want 2 Be Comedy will see four comedy newcomers receive tutoring from the more experienced Andre Vincent (pictured) and Sally Holloway.
The show will have a reality element, with the contestants given a topic in the morning to perform as a sketch or routine in the evening, rather like E4's current show Kings Of Comedy.
Publicity for the programme, being made by Archangel Filmworks, says: “We experience the real journey of the entertainer, the contrast between the development of their performance, as well as the struggle to get an audience through the door.
“We witness the hard slog during the day, the tension and nerves building as the clock ticks, progressing finally to the live showcase.”
The new acts include Tiernan Douieb, an open mic comic on the London circuit, as well as a Cambridge graduate and drama student.
Homechoice, which is only available in London, will air the show on its C1 channel. Clips will also be available on the official webpage.
The evening shows will be recorded at Lowdown at The Albany in central London on Mondays from November 1. Visit the official website for details of free tickets.
