Cast veto 'rubbish' sitcom

BBC1 sitcom Mad About Alice has been dropped after the cast refused to perform the ‘disastrous’ scripts.

Star Amanda Holden has admitted the show was rubbish, and deserved the critical panning it received.

She said it was down to “poor scripts”, saying she and co-star Jamie Theakston were not to blame.

The 33-year-old actress told The Sun: “The show had ratings over five million.

But the cast were not prepared to do another series unless the scripts improved.

“And when we saw them and they hadn’t, we walked away.

“It’s bizarre because it was one of the most popular things I've ever done.”

In the sitcom, Theaskston and Holden played the divorced parents of a nine-year-old son, who were constantly rowing but apparently still in love.
