Enfield advertises burgers in US

Harry Enfield is fronting a new advertising campaign for Burger King in America.

He plays a spoof nutritionist Dr Angus in a series of TV slots to promote the chain’s new Angus Steak burgers.

The commercials are presented as if they were for a genuine lifestyle book, but a number of disclaimers do warn the gullible viewer: “Dr Angus is not a real doctor”; “The Angus diet is not a real diet”.

They mark the first inroads into the States for Enfield, who is largely unknown over there.

In the UK, he has used his characters to advertise lamb, Dime bars, Hula Hoops, Worthington and British Gas.

Since his 2000 Sky One series, largely seen as a flop, Enfield’s comedy CV boasts only the BBC sitcom  Celeb, a spin-off from the Private Eye cartoon strip.
