It's Jimmy Care
His image may be that of the heartless and arrogant quizmaster of shows like Distraction, but Jimmy Carr has saved hundreds of fans from losing their money after a venue went bust.
The Watford Colosseum went into liquidation on June 30 with debts approaching £500,000.
A creditors meeting last week discovered that the venue had few assets, meaning that thousands of people who brought tickets would not get their money back. Those hoping to see acts like Lulu, Blazin' Squad and Bjorn Again, plus a host of classical concerts are all out of pocket unless they had paid by credit card.
But Carr, who was due to play the venue this Saturday, has hurriedly rescheduled another performance in nearby Rickmansworth so his fans would not be disappointed.
Tickets for the original gig will be honoured for the new show at the Watersmeet Theatre on the following night, Sunday July 18, even though Carr’s management are unlikely to recover any of the ticket revenue from the collapsed Colosseum.
A spokesman at his agents Comedy Café Management said: “As a sign of goodwill, Jimmy has decided to do a gig the next night at a nearby venue and to honour those tickets that otherwise would be worthless.”
The only problem is the new venue is smaller that the Colloseum, so those with tickets should call the box office on 01923 771 542 to reserve a seat at the new gig.
