King Stupid

Brigstocke to front kids' comedy show

Marcus Brigstocke is to star in a new children’s sketch show – as King Stupid.

The stand-up will be ‘the cosmic mischief-maker’ in the ten-part Children’s BBC series Stupid, and will be waited on by Goober the Gremlin – played by former Oompah Loompah Rusty Goffe.

Producer Adam Bromley said: “The show is a mix of sitcom with King Stupid and Goober, coupled with sketches from the running characters who are their hapless victims.

“Imagine The Fast Show meets Viz, with a purple gremlin, for kids.

“Our aim is to make a strong, original show that children will love and that grown-ups will enjoy in spite of themselves. We’re confident that Stupid will prove children’s comedy can be not just funny, but funnier than shows aimed at adults.”

Bromley is also a former producer of The Now Show on Radio 4, in which Brigstocke is a regular.

The show, devised by Ant and Dec collaborator Dean Wilkinson, is being filmed over the summer ready for a November transmission.
