Return of the Mack

Lee to bring variety to Radio 2

Lee Mack is to front a new variety show on Radio 2.

His self-titled show, which is recording a pilot next month, promises stand up, sketches and musical guests.

Regulars include Catherine Tate, who worked with Mack on his Perrier-nominated Edinburgh show in 2000, and Steve Brown, who played Glenn Ponder in Knowing Me, Knowing You.

A BBC spokesman said: “Lee is preparing a variety show for the 21st century... which unfortunately means you won't be seeing the Brian Rogers Connection.”

Mack, who has a new Edinburgh show this year, is also about to become an American TV star after ITV’s The Sketch Show was picked up by Fox.

The pilot is being taped in London on July 30. Click here for free tickets.
