Mirza's American boost

Shazia Mirza is to be featured on America's top news magazine show 60 Minutes on Sunday.

The programme will dedicate a third of its show to a profile of the British Muslim comic, airing 15 minutes of her stand-up act.

The CBS show is one of the most respected on American TV, with a track record that includes breaking today's story about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners.

It is seen in around eight million households, giving Mirza's transatlantic profile a huge boost.

Other topics on Sunday's show, which airs at 7pm. are America's role in the genetic search for a master race and the rise of antibiotic-resistant superbugs.
